    So will you?

I'm going to wait until the first price drop sometime late next year before I think about it.

Too much money. I'll get one when they come down off their cloud and price it where actual people can afford one.

Just watched a show tonight highlighting it's media capabilities in addition to gaming. The techno geeks loved it but rated it 75 and 80% mainly because while the games had better res graphics there were no new style games being offered. Just same old but with higher resolution. They also said it has no direct Apple ipod music support without conversion and that was disappointing.
I'm not a gamer that was their impression of the product.

They also said that on the first run Microsoft is probably aiming to supply about 90 to 95% of real expected demand. Creating a small shortage will drive the demand up for the second restock by moving the fence sitters to buy so as not to miss out.

i was going to purchse one.. i had called a couple of times today to ask about quantities and the system they were going to sell them by.. they wouldnt disclose the quantity, but they did say it would be first come first serve, no reservations..

so i showed up at 10:30pm and the department where they were selling them had all the lights off, but there were 2 employees there.. i asked about the system and they said they had already been sold.. i was pretty surprised.. i inquired further, they said they handed out numbers to people who were already waiting earlier.. and i was like "so, you reserved them?".. and then i spoke to a useless manager..

i'm going to call wal-mart HQ & microsoft and see about reporting my local store.

Yeah they are pretty funkie and take a little getting used to, i actually picked up acouple of controller's way back when, that are exact replica's of PS controllers but made for the DC.

I have like 150 games for the DC and just for "House of the dead 2" on my 54" tv with two guns and vibrating memory packs in them, it's great!!!!!!
Was kind of a drag on the old 27" years ago when i was used to playing it in the arcades on their bigscreens, but still fun :P

Man, i'm not even sure how many years old mine is ??
Has to be at least 4-5 years old now, i bet even alot older than that, i'm gonna have to check the tag's on it to see if there is a manufacturing date, i bought it brand new when they were still selling them new & making them, and it still works perfect!!
And the graphics on alot of the games are killer!!!!!!!!!

Na you won't see a discount at all until right before the PS3 launch. IF then, that system has a horrible ammount of hardware in it.

Faustus..i was just about to reply to your original comment about how the xbox is ridiculously priced by mentioning just how much processing power/hardware is in the thing but then you said it before i did....a little confused as to why you think it's so incredibly overpriced when you know what's in the thing.

lumis..you are a supreme loser. They told you first COME, first serve. The firs person who CAME got their ticket. That's not the same as calling in and asking for one to be reserved. While you're complaining to Wal-Mart you should also sue McDonalds for making people fat...

No, I will not. Here's why:

    1. It's too damned expensive.

It just is. $400 for a console? Get real. The only people who will buy this turd at this price are the early adopters and the folks with too much money. Microsoft will just wait until sales LOOK to taper off before dropping the price to $300. SHAME ON THEM. The Revolution, which by the way will most likely debut earlier than expected, will probably be around $200. The PS3? $300.

    2. XBoxes kinda suck.

I know, I know. I'm basing this on the last XBox. But seriously, it kinda did. Sure, you can make it into a media center. But let's face it - the controllers were huge, and it had PC graphics from the year 2000. The XBox 360 is much much better, right? Pfeh.

    3. No games I want.

I play console RPG's, platformers, and a few other games. The last XBox had no RPG's that weren't also available on the PC (KOTOR), no platformers at all until recently (Conker - which I might like to play someday, I concede), and the only racing game I play a lot of is Gran Turismo... a Sony exclusive. Halo was fun - on my PC.

    4. It has contributed to the downfall of PC gaming.

The minute that someone put Unreal Tournament on the XBox was the downfall of PC gaming. But good GOD, what a turd that game was. 8 players? EIGHT PLAYERS? The graphics were blurry, the game was jumpy... and EIGHT PLAYERS? What kind of deathmatch is it with only 8 players? But nonetheless, everybody now says "oh I can play online with XBox Live", so PC gaming has gone into the shitter and may never recover.

    5. The other systems will be better.

The PS3 will have better games, be cheaper, and actually play PS2 games. The Revolution will be the best thing to happen to video games since Pac-Man, mark my words.

    6. Irrational reasons:

I have to hate ONE system. It's a deep-seated need. And I do hate the XBox. From its clunky controllers to its "lookit me I can watch DVD's" fanboys to the fact that they took the hallowed place of SEGA.

    ---------------------------

Plus, I really have to point out that the demo game I played on the 360... uh... kinda sucked. Lots of rain, no obvious controls, pretty damn boring. I think it was one of the resident evil things or some shit.

I'll buy one if and when:

    1. The price goes down to <$200US

    2. There are lots of GOOD games for it.

    3. They have better (read: 3rd party) Controllers for it.

    4. They are backwards compatible with original Xbox and DVD

    5. They are hackable. :P

So, I guess that means I'll be waiting a while, happily using another system ( probably Revolution 8) ).

  16. Not going to buy it; too expensive and it's just the old XBox but with better graphics (and some new features, but my computer can do most, if not all of them).
    I'll probably wait for Revolution.

Well the xbox 360 is trying to make as many of the xbox 1 games compatible on the 360 so backwards compatiblity is not a sony only option anymore.

And what makes you think a ps3 will be cheaper than an xbox 360????????

It might have a few more colors on the screen and a few more bells and whistles than what you've got right now

Don't need video games. Have plenty already.

I'm sure the system works fine, that new Call of Duty 2 or whatever it was looks nice. It is rather expensive. Just not something I need or even really want.

greymalkin, you are a supreme *******.. i wasnt calling to reserve one.. i would have paid a $50 deposit to reserve one.. had i known there was going to be a ticket system and you had to wait until 9 o'clock to get one, i would have done that.. but they just said whoever was there at midnight would get one while they had supplies available.. which turned out to be a lie..

    so please, go **** yourself.

When I saw the side-by-side demos of PS3 and X-BOX 360 a few months ago, the PS3 blew it away in video performance and graphics quality. (September, Park City Mall, Lancaster County, PA... for those who need to challenge) A friend of mine, who was waiting anxiously for the 360 to come out (back then) immediately changed his tune and decided to wait for a PS3. This is a guy who was a die-hard X-Box fanatic... the new graphics looked that BAD.

The salesperson assured my pal that once games were actually available they'd look better than the demo. I laughed so hard I nearly farted.

I don't personally favor one system over another so I'm not picking sides. (Got a gamecube for the kids... more kids games for Nintendo) I'm just telling you what I saw. The demo for PS3 was impressive. The Demo for X-box 360 looked average. Neither was so awesome that I'd buy them for my kids at current prices.

Oh? Yes, they are - IF you pay the extra $100 for the non-core system. Money-grubbing turd monkeys! Not only that, but they're "trying". You know, like how SOOOO many DOS games work properly under Windows XP? LOL.

And what makes you think a ps3 will be cheaper than an xbox 360????????
Because Sony isn't going to debut their system at $400, that's what.

I have like 30 atari cart's sitting in a wooden box on the floor way back in a room under & past my basement stairs

Anyone one remember the good old games like this,
Used to have this game that was state of the art when it came out, i was about 9, you had a light rifle, you would tape these clear screens on the tv with diff. B&W drawings on them, like one was a old west town, and when a white square would light up behind one of the cowboys you would have to shoot it and score the drawings had clear square spots in them for the light to shine through and the gun would pick up the bright light...
    WOW!!! talk about old

I still have a PONG unit sitting in a closet in my parents house. Hasn't been hooked up since 1980, but it was THE video game in those early years (~1975). Talk about retro!
