i have dont with insert the subtitle to video and i save new .avi file but the new .avi files size is lower than the original, that's mean what ?? the new .avi video quality not good as the original one ? and if i want to burn to vcd format what should i do to get maximum video and others quality?? because i hear that if want to burn to vcd format, the video quality is decreased

If you want a VCD you shouldn't be re-encoding to an avi first. Waste of time and lowers quality if you don't use a lossless codec.
My advice would be to frameseve with subs via AVISynth for encoding. You could use FitCD to create the script with correct resizing for VCD. Not sure if it can add subs or not, if it can't it isn't hard to add an extra line say:
textsub("movie.srt") -
first of all i wanna say sorry my english is poor, but i try to explain what i want to.. pls help me =p
actually what i want is... i want burn the movie that already got the text mixing together with the movie file then burn it into VCD format, what should i do to get most quality for burn into VCD? the movie is .avi, i should conver it to .svcd then burn it into VCD? or ?
i have 1 movie file that already inserted together with the subtitle using virtual dub, then i trying to burn this file to cd in VCD format, but the program ask me SVCD or bla2... i forgot... what i know is SVCD quality is better than normal VCD... so i trying choose burn in SVCD format but my file in no SVCD type, what should i do ? whether i should not insert the subtitle to the movie first... or what ? -
i want to add more...
originally i have 1 move file .avi(700mb) and 1 subtitle file .srt
but now i have 1 movie file that already inserted with subtitle using VirtualDubMod (400mb, lower size huh ?), then i trying to burn this file to CD in VCD format, but the program ask me SVCD or bla2... i forgot... what i know is SVCD quality is better than normal VCD ? so i trying choose burn in SVCD format but my file in not SVCD type, what should i do ? what i have done is correct already ? then i jz need convert the file .AVI(400mb) to SVCD then burn it to CD using SVCD format ? or whether i should not insert the subtitle to the movie first...? or another way ?
thxx for helping me this far -
What you do is use Virtualdub, open your avi, import your subtitles then frameserve the whole thing to your mpeg encoder. All explained right here: https://www.videohelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm
When you start your mpeg encoding you can select to make a VCD, SVCD or DVD mpeg. Which you select depends on what is supported by your computer hardware and your DVD player. After you have created your mpeg you need to "author" it to disk, I recommend VCDEasy or TMPGEnc DVD Author depending on which format you have created."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
helpp again.. i have follow the instruction in https://www.videohelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm but i got problem while start frameserver, it doesn't work, the instruction said: "if you get trouble using the frameserver read this guide for more info". THIS GUIDE refers to "https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm", i have follow these guide too but i still face the problem with frameserver... i also follow the problem and the solution in this guide, i have done all the solution that the guide give me, but still cant do framserver

the trouble is the frameserver could not started...i already install the handler exactly follow the instruction in https://www.videohelp.com/srtsubsvirtual.htm, i also try the instruction in https://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm, there got the solutions about the problem why framserver can't work, i also follow those solutions, but still the frameserver can't work, get my point ?
sorry english poor T_T
but i try another way... i dont frameserver it using virtualdub i just convert the .avi file to .mpg using TMPGEnc, then i try to play the result file (.mpg), there is the subtitle inside the movile file already, but i got another problem... the text is much faster than the video..., the video and the sound is the samee...
if i try play the original .avi file using Windows Media Player, the sound and the text is the same but the video is slower than both of them,
if i play the original .avi file using VLC media player, the video and the sound is the same but the text is faster..., or maybe my computer too slow.. so caused those problem??
my comp is 450MHz, got my point friend ? if still dont understand, pls ask me again, dont tired to help me hehehe i really need help =p
thx again for ur all help
