I had a few clips that I converted to mpeg that were about 860 Mbs each that I wanted to burn onto DVD. After I ran them through TMPGenc DVD Author, they decreased to 630 Mbs each.

What happened? Does this decrease the quality?

As TDA has no built in video encoder, the video isn't touched.
Possibly the audio is reencoded? But what are you comparing your source file size to?

I'm comparing it to those .vob files. Because the mpegs sum up to 4Gb and now after authoring them in TMPGenc DVD author, their down to about 3Gb in total, which is a big difference.

I checked the videos, and they didn't seem like they were altered.

Yes, 25% is quite some. Must be that your audio is reencoded. What kind of audio in the mpg? What kind of audio in the final DVD?

The only things I can think of are:

    1. You've got this tickbox checked:

... and the 2ch AC3 plugin and TDA is re-encoding the audio.

    or

    2. TDA couldn't import of all the clip(s), and has truncated them.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Since TDA can't handle multiple audio tracks (not even sure it can handle 5.1), maybe the original VOB had multiple audio tracks (incl. 5.1), and TDA is only keeping the first 2.0 track of the VOB...

Nope, my original audio was 48000Hz, 192kbps, Stereo and I didn't have that box checked, for re-encoding audio.

And I'm not sure what you mean by "TDA couldn't import of all the clip(s), and has truncated them."

    Thanks, hope you can help.
