    I own a Canon Vixia HG21 and was wondering if I could use it as a webcam. I have seen the software options but I believe I need to get a firewire card for this to work. The camcorder itself has a HDMI and USB output but no firewire.

    AVCHD cams don't stream compressed digital. HDV cams do.

    You only have options for SD analog out to a capture device or uncompressed HDMI (not easy).
