  1. Hello,

Can someone point me to some encoder which will produce the best result to encode from VCD to DVD.

I have used SVCD2DVD to make a dvd from several VCD cd's by renaming the DAT files to mpg and it works ok. But I would like to know if there are better results attainable for the encoding only.

    Regards

It's pointless. VCD resolution is part of the DVD specs, all you need to do is change the audio from 44,000 to 48,000.

    ^^

    What he said.

The only possible reason I've found to re-encode the video is if you used non dvd-compliant GOPs, but even then MPEG-VCR can fix these without re-encoding every frame again anyway, so ....
    If in doubt, Google it.

And re-encoding, even at the (slightly) higher allowable bitrate in the DVD spec isn't going to improve the generally low quality of most VCD source material.
