    Dear All,

I use the excellent programs RealMedia and Apple Quicktime.

There is only one bugbear, which others may share.

My 'working' computer is not connected to the Internet.

Quite often, if a different or unrecognised file type within the generic group is opened, RealMedia or Apple attempt to log on to download the appropriate or updated codec.

    This is now becoming frustrating.

Is there a way of accessing, or is there a resource, by which a user can simply download all RealMedia or Apple codecs without the need for the 'download only on demand' practise?

    Best regards

    Martin

Ditch the 'official' versions and try the real alternatve and QT alternative versions. They contain all the codec components of the originals, without all the baggage. They are updated fairly regularly, and you can use the Tools page here to keep up to date. Just download them to a connected PC and transfer them on USB key or similar as required.

However there is no way to realistically expect to have all the codecs you could ever require, up-to-date without some form of connectivity.

Perhaps you need to look at networking your working PC to one that is connected to the net. The working PC need never connect to the internet itself, but be able to access shares on the connected PC to which you download updates etc.
