  1. For the last couple of years or so I`ve used a wintv go card plugged into Sky+ digibox by s-vid cable and capping with windvr3. I found this to be an excellent method of analogue capping and of course windvr3 has the snapshot button to capture stills live. I recently bought a Twinhan dvb-s card (purely for price, prefer to lose out on £40 than £120 if I DVB-S wasn`t for me) pointing at Astra satellite (Sky digital) The bundled software isn`t that great and very often doesn`t recognise the card but when it does stills capping is a bit of a pain as you have to OK every still. I`ve tried both Progdvb and DVB Dream, both I find great for videos but again stills are a bit of a problem. Progdvb just doesn`t capture stills (get the windows error ping). With DVB Dream I get the noise of a camera shutter, but it doesn`t save stills anywhere, have done a thorough search of drive, but nothing. I`ve tried My Theatre, but It won`t seem to do a decent channel scan (good signal strength and cable on my setup).
At the moment I`ve been recording vids and taking stills from them using Windvd which is fine, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a piece of DVB-S software that gives an option similar to Windvr3 or a setting that will capture every frame on record.

I had the same problem, so I end up with a workaround: I cap mpeg 2 as usual and then I load that mpeg 2 on virtualdub mpeg 2 and extract a frame from there.

Of course I would love a straight solution myself, but I don't know any for the sky digital subscriptors (you can't use altdvb either, this program don't decode NDS cards with a smartmouse)

Excellent. I have tried this before but with no success. On further reading I found out about the lack of clipboard functions with XP so I downloaded a clipboard util. Works a treat, much better than snapping with windvr. Thanks.

I`ll give altdvb a try when I get chance. I only use the card for the free channels, so the decoding of NDS doesn`t matter, I use the Sky+ and a standalone recorder the subscription ones and the virtualdub method works well for for captures made onto disc as well. Thanks again
