I'm demuxing an xvid avi that I have and the .ac3 file that is created is 189kb for an hour long video. It would seem to me that it should be much larger, a single mp3 is larger than this. Am I doing anything wrong?

I think posting a link to the torrent is against the rules. Can someone just answer my question?

  3. If you are using Virtualdubmod, you will need the AC3 ACM Decompressor installed. It is in the tools section.

Posting a link to a torrent normally is against the rules if you are advocating its usage, not when it is used to show that you, in fact, are asking for assistance with warez !
    If in doubt, Google it.

So after I install this, then try to demux I will get a larger ac3 file?

  6. If you want to encode your avi with TMPGenc, save the audio as a wave file. TMPG doesn't handle AC3 audio very well. Use the decompressed wave file for your audio.

How do I save the audio file as a wav? don't see any new options in Virtualdubmod to do so after installing the ac3 acm decompressor.

  8. Click on streams>stream list. Right click on the audio source and choose "full processing mode". Then on the right hand side of the window click the save wav button.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

So what method is better... extract the audio and then encode with tmpgenc with the separate audio file, or...

Encode with tmpgenc, get my outputted file that has no sound, then add the audio wav when I author in tmpeg dvd author?

I'd encode the WAV file to 2.0ch AC3 using ffmpeggui, belight or besweet, and then add this to the video in TDA.
    If in doubt, Google it.
