Yes, if you redefine "full quality"

Or you could use a higher compression format like MPeg4 (dix,xvid,wmv,h.264,vc-1,...) but you would need a compatible player.

If just the movie is less than or equal to the DVD-5 then Yes, if not then No. Some form of compression would be required.

  5. Take out the subtitles, remove other languages, convert lpcm audio to ac3. probably... depending on what the bitrate was on the original.

    Yes.
    how?
    Easy.

...provided that the original DVD was already on a DVD-5 to start with, or by removing unwanted audio tracks, extra features etc etc, it it soemtime possible that what's left will fit on a DVD-5 as-is. Then there's the ugly "Q" word - there's every chance that even if everything doesn't fit, DVDShrink or any other transcoder can normally do a quite respectable job in pulling it down to size, often with no noticeable difference in visual quality.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ya gotta read the fine print

DVDShrink in reauthor mode and possibly http://members.dodo.com.au/~jimmalenko/DVDShrink32.htm or a number of other guides in the guide ssection should help.

But I guess you've already looked there, right ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
