I'm having some major sync problems after converting my avi to dvd with CCE and authoring with DVDLab Pro. Here's he file info from AVIcodec

    Video : 600 MB, 833 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 640*272 (2.21:1), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
    Audio : 97 MB, 135 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported
It is mp3 audio. I have used VirtualDub with the option Audio-->Full Processing Mode to extract the audio into a WAV file. After that I use BeSweet to convert it an AC3 audio file. When author it with DVDLab Pro and used PowerDVD to test it...the audio does not sync. Also I'm not pretty sure, but it seems like it is just playing the music....no sound effects or voices for some reason?

When I play the AVI movie file everything is fine thought so can't be that.
Am I doing this wrong ? Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong or help me solve this problem.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that when I load the AVI file into VirtualDub I get this message. This is before I saved it as a WAV file.

VBR MP3 audio - the cause of most sync problems.

    One method is as follows:-

Take note of the exact runtime of the video in virtualdub:

Load the WAV into GoldWave then go to Edit > Time Warp, and enter the exact time in.

This should adjust the audio length to match the video length exactly.

However you don't say if the audio is out of synch by the same amount (say a couple of seconds) throughout the whole movie, or if it starts in sync and then drifts, or if it starts out of sync but is in towards the end. The method to fix these situations differs slightly, and you might be able to find the solutions elsewhere in the forums.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. I have the same problem.

My project is 1:34:26 sec. I converted the audio from wav to AC3 using the ffmpeggui. When I replaced the sound and built the project using the DVDLab Pro, the audio was out of sync. The audio started in sync at the beginning of the movie and by 30 min into a film it was about 2 sec out of sync.

    How can this be fixed?

    Thanks

As already mentioned-the message from Vdub is informing you that it is VBR(variable bitrate) MP3 and likely to be sync problems. I've never really managed a 100% success rate with VDub when i extract VBR and i'm not sure if 'Timewarping' in goldwave is a SURE fix if the source played fine anyway-IMO!! IF it didnt, then go with jimmalenko's suggestion.

What has worked for me each time is:
    1. to load the avi direct into Goldwave and save the resulting audio as a 48000hz 192kbps MP3 (you'll need a plug-in).
    2. I then go Vegas to create 6ch AC3 but for you, then use ffmpeggui for AC3 2ch.

Rarely have a problem with the above-note, i say rarely!!!! On occasion there is always one!! The whole point is to have a few options and go with what works best for you. It's also good to post back if it does work so that others can share in your success when they come across the same issue.
