  1. I have been following the info on this site and want to check if I am doing the right thing. I have mpeg2 (from TV recordings) that I inputed in Tmpgenc. In Tmpgenc, I selected "DVD" and then converted. The output was 2 files, one video and one audio. If I then use Tmpgenc DVD Author, is it a simple matter to input (those 2 files from Tmpgenc) and burn a DVD? I don't want any menus or other complicated things, just a basic DVD. Also, I have one other question. The converted video file that came out of Tmpgenc is much bigger than the original mpeg2. Why is this so?
One last question. Assuming I am doing the right thing, why doesn't Tmpgenc make a one click software that allows you to make a DVD directly from mpeg2, ie,without first using Tmpgenc, and then using Tmpgenc DVD Author?

Use the latest version of gpot to find out if your original file is already dvd compliant.

You say its "mpeg2" but don't clarify if it was in dvd format (720x480, 48khz ntsc). If its in svcd mpeg 2(480x480) then it will have to be converted to be dvd compatible.

If its truly dvd mpeg2 to start with you should be able to just load the original file into tda and work straight from that.

Check source MPEG-2 in GSpot 2.52 Beta against https://www.videohelp.com/dvd . If compliant author as-is, and choose "No menu" in TDA.

If not DVD-compliant, then you need to convert so that it is. http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm should assist. THe filesize is all to do with running time and bitrate, so I'd suggest that you must have used a larger bitrate than was present in the source.
    If in doubt, Google it.
