Since I reinstalled xp pro (in Sept) I can not play most of my DVDs. It is
updated and I did find at ms.com some "extra" codecs that I installed. I
also installed several free DVD players. Even the player that came with my
DVD burner will not play most of them.

If I drag the large DVD content file (*.VOB) in Explorer to some of the
players, it will play on some of my DVDs, but then when that section is
played out, I need to drag the second content file to watch the remainder of
the video. If I drag over the start screen on most players it errors,
sometimes the start screen in some players on some DVDs will display, but
when I click the image to play the video, it errors.

    WTF is wrong here?

Please help me. I can not even watch DVDs that I burn. All players are
    updated with their latest codecs.

You should select "open a dvd" or "open a dvd on your hd" in your dvd software and select the dvd drive or video_ts folder or the video_ts.ifo file. Just playing a vob is not the same.

ok. I tried that and everything on that link and it was no go.

Then I downloaded WinDVD7 and it works. All players now play all DVDs.

    WTF?

Several of these DVDs are a few years old, so no brand new technology or anything like that. And that D**n player that came with the burner would not even play DVDs that I burned using this install of xp. Now it does. Some one please give me a clue.
