Had a quick look and it seems that there are multiple guies there. Which scenario are you following? I would suggest AVISynth myself. Just load the avs as your source instead of your avi.

Look closely at the word "frameserve" in that guide.

Notice how it's red in colour ?

Notice that when you click on it, it links to the guide skeg64 suggested !

    If in doubt, Google it.

I C. that means the next step i have to do from virtualDub is to save frameserve into vdr file. and THEN open TMPEG as my mpeg encoder to encode the vdr file. am i right?

but then i need to split audio from video, isn't it another step. WOW! that is a pain!

btw, how long does it takes?

for celtic_druid, how do you use AVIsynth anyway. there is no application to click after i install it.

    yes.

yes, but not from the MPEG. split the audio from the AVI out of virtualdub, by choosing File>Save WAV. Then encode to AC3 with ffmpegGUI. Do not encode the audio in TMPGenc, choose the "ES - Video Only" option. TMPGEnc can only encode to MP2 audio, which is only standard on PAL dvds. AC3 (or the uncompressed PCM) is a better choice as it is more compatible.

there are too many variables that affect this to give you an estimate. Expect to leave it overnight.

it is a command-line app. Head over to Doom9.net if you want to learn it, but personally I just stick with virtualdub.
