Help - Sony Vegas

It's kind of hard to describe, but I need something that has a strip of letters and numbers flying across the screen from side to side--- sort of like the matrix's green letters falling, but I need them to go from left to right and only in a little strip across the middle of the screen, and they have to be letters and numbers in a fast pace motion...I want it to be like a Blur almost, then stop and have peoples names show up in the strip. Does anyone know how I would be able to do this?

You could create a large picture of the letters/numbers(using small digits) in Photoshop or similiar application.
Pull the picture into the Vegas timeline, stretch it out to how long the effect should last. Now use the Pan/Crop to set keyframes to create the motion from one side of the picture to the other.

Create the media for the names as a series of BMPs in photoshop or wherever
Put your background video on the time line
now add a track (video) for each letter in the word

then using VIDEO EVENT PAN & CROP right click each track after the letter is inserted.. add the new tracks one at a time, strectch the still containing the letter to the ntended duration during the background clip.

now using even/pan crop, animate the letter.
repeat for each track (letter)
