  1. i decided to try the latest version of this program. tried it before and my machine just didn't like it.

new version works great and is fast. quality is great audio/video sync good. changing the settings takes a bit to figure out.

i noticed though after opening a converted video in virtualdub that there were no b frames. its the default setting for the imtoo mpeg encoder program. most sites suggest 2 b frames-thats also the default for tmpge.

lets see if i can explain this right...

i tried converting a 23.98fps video to 29.97ntsc with tmpge default settings. audio and video did not match. tried with imtoo mpeg encoded using default setting and audio/video matched perfectly.

not sure if the 'no b frames' has anything to do with that or if imtoo mpeg encoder may be better at keeping audio sync than tmpge? the 'b' frames are the only difference in the conversion.

the 'no b frame' video played fine on standalone player.

  2. You should have encoded in tmpgenc at 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown enabled, not to 29.97

I know this post has been around for awhile but I need some guidance on using this program (ImTOO Mpeg Encoder). I've experienced a different result than the author of this post, I wonder if someone can help me.

I was attempting to convert a Mpeg 1 or 2 file to a Vob and I continue to get an out of sync clip. The original mpeg file is in sync but once it is converted to Vob it loses it's sync.

I tried using a WMV file of the same video and it works fine, no out of sync audio whatsoever. I tried to get some assistance from ImToo's website, I was told to change the video frame rate from 30fps to 50 or 60fps this was only godd for the beginning of the clip. By the time 4 minutes had past the video was out of sync again.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
