    hi, i'm new to all this. can anybody help? i want to convert some beta tapes. i have a jvc vhs-dvd-vhs and an old sanyo 980 beta machine. can i hook these up and create dvds. i just want straight transfrs. not interested in editing, etc. how can i do it?

    What would it actually cost you to simply give it a go ? You would know the answer almost as quickly as you could type your question above.

    Read the manual for your DVD recorder (assuming it is a DVD recorder, and not just a player), or look on the back, and see if it has video in. If it does, connect the video out of the beta to the video in on the DVD recorder. Press play on one, and record on the other (I'll you work out which is which - don't wan't to make it too easy). If you don't have video-in on the dvd recorder then the answer is no and you need wonder no longer.
