For those of you who didn't like the limit 1 at Office Max last week and weren't anywhere near a Micro Center last week either (like me).

SOLD OUT on their website for delivery.

I worry less and less about missing "deals" like this on DVD+R DL for a couple reasons:
    1. Dual layer media still has (to me) unacceptably low compatibility.
    2. $2.00 each is becoming less of a special price and more of an everyday price.
Personally, I've been "burned" by stocking up on what I thought was a great price for media and then watching it, in a matter of a couple months, drop like a rock. For example, I bought a couple hundred of the Verbatim 4X DVD-R "moviereel" blanks when BB had them on sale and watched 8X media drop to the same price, on an everyday basis, a couple months later when I still had a hundred or so left.

Certainly if you go through DL media like crazy, then it's a great deal and go jump on it -- Verbatim DVD+R DL is really the only logical choice in 11/2005. But if you plan on stocking up on enough to last 6 months, you may be surprised in 6 months how cheap DL media will be.

Yep... I've seen the Verbatim DL 3 packs come down... they were $19.99 about 3 months ago.. the other day I purchased the same pack at Compusa's Business desk for $10.

So I'm getting only 1 or maybe 2 packs... I use mostly Single Layer... but with my burner, and how it took a few burns to "learn" the Single Layer media... and not having worked with DL much so far, I expect to make a few coasters...

Limit 2. Saw the ad and the local store has none. No Raincheck due to instant savings. I was going to pick 2 packs up for gifts. Staples is supposed to have some on sale next week so I guess I'll pick them up there.

My last stack of DVD+R DL was $1.65 per disc, for MKM 4x. So $2-3 is about average. It looks like we finally hit the price drops.

I walked into a local Best Buy yesterday, and walked out with five 10-packs of Verbatim DVD+R DL @ $19.99 each. No limits or restrictions. Even after my greedy appetite there were still a few left on the shelf.

  8. I stopped by Office Max the other day and they had the 3-pk on the shelf for $14.99, right next to the empty space reserved for the 10-pk that was on sale. I started to mention something to a sales associate about the price, but Best Buy was right up the street and they always have them.

In Costa Rica the prices are still high. Around $7 for single disk and $5 the cheapest crap available.
