  1. Hi, I am a school teacher and have a documentary in AVI format.
I converted it to DVD and now when I play it in the DVD burner, the sync is out by about 6-10 seconds, it varies. The original AVI version had perfect sync.
This documentary was purchased legally. One of the other teachers made an avi version for us. dont ask me why!! GRR
I thought I could just simply convert it to DVD, I wasn't expecting these issues.
Am I burning too fast? I have no ideas. I really need these discs sooner than later and will be teaching the content soon!
Please, give me any advice and suggestions
I used NERO to burn and VSO DIVX TO DVD to convert.
    Thanks,
    Matthew

  2. Maybe try a different tool instead of the All In One junk like VSO DIVX TO DVD.
Encode the AVI to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc Plus. Then check to see if the MPEG file is still in sync.If not VideoRedo is the ideal tool for correcting sync issues. Then load up the MPEG2 files into TMPGEnc DVD Author and output to DVD Video files.
By the way,the speed you burn the DVD at should have no effect on sync, but burning at slow speeds eg 4x is better as you will be less likely to encounter errors.
IMGBurn or DVDDecrypter are the BEST for burning DVD Video files, but they must be an ISO image.I think TMPGEnc DVD Author can output an ISO image or you could use IMGTools classic to convert the VIDEO_TS to ISO,then you can load the ISO image into the tools.

Edit: What was the audio codec used with the AVI,if VBR,it will cause sync problems.
Use GSpot to find out what audio codec was used.
