  1. Hi.. I have had this burner for over year.. I used memorex DVD-R 4X.. for some time, and it worked pretty good burning always at 4X .. Now, I just bought memorex DVD-R 16x.. and instead of burning data at 8X it's burning at 2X. I tried upgrading the firmware, but to no avail. I am not sure now which version I upgraded to. Just wandering if there is something newer in firmware or something I need to install in order for the writer to write on appropriate speed. I curretly have Win XP, P41.4ghz, with 512 meg RAM. Any help is appreciated.

Before you make too many more modifications, try a different 16X media. They are not created equal.

Well.. I really wouldn't want to buy more media, since i got enough of memorex dvd-r.. but just wandering if anything else can speed up things.

  4. Some DVD writers just dont support newer media unfortunetly, even when updating the firmware. You should try and find out what media your writer supports before buying.
I'd go back with the Memorex DVD-R 4X,at least you know the media is compatible with your hardware.
