First time post so please go easy on me..........

I want to create a DVD "greatest hits" of several DVD's that I own. I am looking for (or maybe just dreaming) of a software that will allow me to rip portions of a DVD straight to MPEG2. I would like to be able to graphically select the start and stop points and do this independent of chapters. If there is such a thing, please let me know.

I don't think there's any software to rip straight to mpeg2, but if there is I'm sure that someone will correct me.

I would use DVD Shrink in re-author mode which will rip to your hard drive and allows you to select only the portion of the video that you want. It will create seperate dvd folders for each clip/movie.

Then I would use TMPGEnc DVD Author, the "add dvd video" button imports each clip. All you need to do then is make your menus and burn.

TDA can edit as well if the dvd's are already on your hard drive.

    BTW, welcome!

  3. Also VOB2MPG is a cool tool!Rip with DVDDecrypter then load into VOB2MPG,output as MPG and then edit with VideoRedo and load into TMPGEnc DVD Author and voila.

Edit: I suppose zippy's method is quicker though
