  1. The Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor brags about it's "in the box" temporal filtering that is supposed to clean up a lot of the noise from analogue sources. Does anyone here own or have used one of these? Is the "TrueView Pro" filtering really as good as they claim? I've read reviews of this little soundcard/video converter, but none that talk specifically about the quaility of the filter.

I'm mostly wanting to use it (if I decide to get one) to record from analogue to digital (probably DV format, not the built-in MPEG). However, though it would be nice to not have to plug in my miniDV camera and use it for a converter, I can only justify buying the Audigy VE if it will do some decent cleanup of the analogue signal and thereby save me some time in applying filters and such to clean up the video after I've converted it.

    Any valid input is appreciated.

When it comes to audio, or video for that matter, ignor reviews from clueless computer nerds.

What you have here is a third party supplier to Creative attempting to merge LSI Logic's DVD recorder chips with Audigy 2 but in a in a clumsy way. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=clumsy

  3. The Audigy 2 ZS VE is a little different from the normal Audigy 2 ZS. It does analogue to digital conversion of audio AND VIDEO. So while those links are helpfull, they're not exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway though. Anyone else.

    I wasn't finished.

In summary, this box was a first attempt at a goal most of us share.

  5. That's funny crap ed. Thanks for the info. A little research of my own turned up this important fact: the filters to clean up the video can only be applied when capturing to mpeg. So if you want to capture to DV for editing (which I do), and less recompression, you're out of luck. I'm looking at some of the canopus solutions now.

This box never claimed to be a DV transcoder. The LSI Domino FX chipset is only for MPeg2.
