I'm using my ZR300 to convert some analog video from a JVC GR-AXM4 camcorder. I'm playing the analog video with the JVC, passing through the ZR300 to convert, and into my computer using a firewire. The software I'm using to capture the video is Pinnacle Studio. The whole process works great, with one exception ... the recorder audio isn't very loud. I've recorded the same video and used a graphics card to convert the signal and the audio was much louder, so I know it's something about this new configuration. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. I don't use Studio but if it dosen't have any volume adjustment you could export the audio as a wav file and then use an audio editor that can normalize the audio.
A Free one is Audacity or if you have Nero it's audio editor can Normalize the audio.
Save the fixed audio and import the audio into Studio and delete or mute the original audio. Check that it is in sync and then you can edit or render.

Try WinDV for DV transfer and see if there is a difference. If no then Pinnacle is innocent. You should then analog boost the audio before A/D (e.g. a mixer before the DV camcorder) for best results.

Separate capture of audio risks audio-video sync issues.
