  1. I used one of those vhs to dvd (panasonic) combo players/recorders. Everything worked perfectly, however, the discs will only play in that machine. They will not read in my pc drive, my external dvd drive, my dvd player, or my xbox. Any suggestions?

  2. Did you finalize the disk? You have to do that for it to play in other players

Recordable DVDs don't work in all players.

  4. I am assuming that these combo players/recorders finalize after burning. There is no way to adjust it, you just hit "dubbing" and off it goes. As far as the recordable media playing in other players, I have used those discs for everying and they play just fine. In other words, if I use my current blank media to back up The Incredibles, it will play just fine in all my dvd players, but if I try to play a disc that was just recorded from the combo player/recorder, it doesn't read it at all.

  5. Check the documentation on your recorder to see if it's recording in DVD-VR mode. My Samsung automatically formats new media to VR mode, and I have to re-format to the standard R mode before the disk burnt on it will play in other recorders. When recording in the VR mode, there is no option to finialize (on my system at least).

Hope this is of some help.

You ABSOLUTELY need to finalize the disc! The machine does NOT automatically finalize the disc after doing a dub.
