  1. I'm trying to burn video BIN files from vcdgeargui using CDRWin, however it keeps thinking it is an audio file burning it as a cda file on the disk instead of the video file needed to play on my dvd player. Would easy cd creator or nero be better?

You cannot just write only bin's. You need to have a CUE file too.
When you use VCDGearGui, you'll better extract the movies as MPG-files and rewrite the VCD using a CD-burning app that can write VCD's, using these MPeG's.
