    Hi,

I'm new to authoring DVD's and am trying to figure out how to add extra files to a DVD-Video disc, regardless of the type of file. I only need them to be accessible from a computer and I'm not looking to access them from within menus on a standalone player, but the video does need to be accessible from a standalone.

I have Nerovision Express and have tried several other freeware programs, but none seem to allow burning extra files. I assume it's possible, since commercial DVD's sometimes do it. Can someone explain what tools I need; preferably freeware?

Can't swear by it but i think Canopus Edius will allow a mixture of different files on one disc. Not cheap at $600 though. There is a demo version but not sure of limitations. Very limited no. of programs will do this. I'm sure someone will reply with a definitive answer.

Thanks! I'll look into the demo, but I'm really look for something cheap, or even better, free.

From what I understand of your question, you'd like to create a DVD that is playable as per normal in a settop player, but also contain other files that would be accessible on a computer ?

If so, it's actually quite simple and has nothing to do with your authoring program. Moreso, your burning program. For example, if using Nero, you can just use the DVD (UDF/ISO) template, drag n drop your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders that your authoring software gives you, then just add the extra files you need as if you were burning a data DVD. These can be either in the root of the disc, or within their own folder.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. I believe you can just create an extra folder within your structure. Put your files in there. Then use ImgTool Classic to create an ISO.

Thanks guys! I'm glad to know it works!

jimmalenko: The problem is that I have an OEM version of Nero and I think it only works in wizard mode, so I don't think using the DVD template is an option. But it's nice to know this will work so I can get some other burning software.

dphirschler: I'll give ImgTool a try. I looked at it earlier, but I gave up hope after reading about it. It may be exactly what I'm looking for.
