Any suggestions for getting old 8mm (and the like) film to DVD (or onto a PC as MPEG2)? I suppose the real question is, do I consider using a 'professional' or semi-pro SERVICE or do I build some setup to do it myself (I have a bevy of capture hardware, as well as a miniDV camera).
Anyone have a service they've used which was reliable and safe? (safe in that the tapes in question are old family videos which I'd want handled very carefully)

Do a search on 8mm to dvd. This was covered recently here. There was a pretty good list of links and services.
