I download DivX movies via HTTP or FTP or peer to peer clients... Movies, pornoclips, commercials, Jackass episodes or whatever... everything that I find interessting. I also edit some myself.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what Video Codec and Audio codec one need to be able to convert all the damn formats to anything else out there. I thought it was okay by installing the Krystal Studio 4.3.3 Codec pack BUT NO... there was some Audio codec missing so I could'nt convert DIvX to VCd... and I got some codecs from the the installations of Windows Media Player 7.0... but that was'nt enough either.. there' are still files I can't watch even in Virtual Dub... and esecially in Vegas Video I get the "Video Stream could not be determined" or "Audio Stream could not be determined". I thought taht if you had a Codec installed, all the appz on the computer would be able to use them, not true?

PLEASE... can someone explain what all codec you need? i thought DivX was a DivX codec.. but now I see my applications requesting mpeg 3 layer Audio codecs (not included in krystal Studio?) and KS codecs and all sorts of weird things...

    HELP this is a jungle!!!

Maybe Baldrick or someone in charge of this site could put up a page about which codecs are the most common or something?
    Thanx/
    Lars

WMP should automatically download the MP3 codecs. The Kristal just has the video codecs. If it still doesn't work, download WinAmp and you should get the MP3 codecs.
