  1. I have no problem using Winavi 6.37 to convert rmvb to mpeg before.
Recently I upgraded it to 7.1, and the size won't showed up right on my TV.
I'm seeing lot of black space.
It's like watching a 20" TV inside of my 50" TV.
I just burned the mpeg files to DVD-R.
I didn't coverted it to VCD or DVD. (save time)
I noticed in version 7.1, there's a check box for keeping the video in the same size.
    Is that the problem?
Will uncheck the box solve my problem?
(try to save a few disc here before trying it again)

  4. I guess nobody know how to fix this.
Meanwhile I'm just going to stick with 6.37 for now.
I'm going to missed 7.1 faster convertion.

If it only happens on TV, and you play it as a raw mpeg file (not an authored disk) then it is something peculiar to the way your players reads the mpeg file. I would try authoring first (which is how most would do it) to see what you get.

It is a bit weird! Maybe you can convert your rmvb file to DVD and then burn it to have a try! Or try adjusting the height/width when converting to MPEG format on the Advanced options.

free authoring : guifordvdauthor or dvdauthorgui
cheap and cheerful : tmpgenc dvd author
    mid-price : DVD Lab
semi-pro price : DVD WS or DVD Lab Pro
over-priced : Encore or DVD Architect
    outrageous : Scenarist

In your case I would suggest anything from the first two lines
