  1. Hi,

I am authoring my first DVD using DVD Architect 3.0. I have created a menu with three chapters. When I pop-in DVD in the player, main menu with three chapters is displayed. I can select each chapter and once the chapter is over, main menu is displayed again.

Now I want to add a “PLAY ALL” button. Unlike some other DVD Authoring programs I didn’t find any default PLAY ALL button in DVD Architect 3, so I added a button from button gallery to the menu but I don’t know how to add Play ALL Chapters functionally to this button.

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks,

    Joe

  4. 1. Drag all the videos to your Project Properties window.
    2. Place the first one on the workspace as a button.
    3. Set the end action of the first file to open the second file, and so on. Set the end action of the last file to return to the menu. Back to top

This procedure assumes your title includes chapter markers. You can add chapter markers in the Timeline window.

Add a title to a menu.

Select the button in the workspace or select the title in the Project Overview window.

Choose Scene Selection Menu from the Insert menu or click the Insert Scene Selection Menu button in the Project Overview window. The Insert Scene Selection Menu dialog is displayed.

In the Page title box, type the title you'd like to be displayed on the new menu.

In the Links per page box, specify the number of links you'd like to have displayed on each page. For example, if your video includes fifteen chapter markers, typing 5 in this box will create a scene-selection menu with three pages.

Click the OK button to create the menu and pages. You can then edit the menu as necessary.

If you want to create individual thumbnails that link to chapter points without creating a scene-selection menu, add an empty button to your menu and use its button action to link to a title and chapter.

  5. Given that I have THREE Chapters I don't get it.

I have draged three chapters (three seperate video files) on the menu alogn with the fourth button called "PLAY ALL". I set the In Action window I set the Destination to 1st chapter. Then as you said I set the End Action to play Chapter 2. Now I don't know how to link Chapter 3 to Chapter 2.

Don't forget that I don't want to give up the functionality of selecting any chapter, playing it and at the end return to main menu Besides playing all back to back.

Hope my problem is clear now to you all.

Three separate files cannot be considered chapters as you as calling the, A chapter is a marker you apply to a single vieo file.

You basically have three separate movies with their end actiaons set to return to the main menu.
The play all has to be set to play the first movie an that end action has to be to go the second one and that end action to go to the third one and that end acton to go back to the main menu.

I do not use your prog but that's how I do it in Adobe Encore. This a pretty standard procedure which should be appicable to any other authoring program. Have you checked the Sony DVD Architect tutorial in their website?

  7. You are correct I have three files. And I have sent them to return to main menu as their end action.

For the PLAY ALL Button I set the Action to play file ONE. Then I set the end action of PLAY ALL button play file TWO. Since I have only one button "PLAY ALL", it has only start action and end action. Since I have assigned file TWO as end action of PLAY ALL button, I cannot do anything for playing file THREE.

It's strange that an advanced program such as DVD Architect 3 doesn't have a "PLAY ALL" button that can play three seperate files.

It's strange that somebody who doesn't know the difference between titles and chapters would spend hundreds of dollars on an editing and authoring system like this.

That said, try putting the three titles in the right order into a playlist, then linking your play all button to the playlist instead.

    Definitely,

Playlists take care of playing separate video clips sequentially and returning to the menu after the last video.

When using chapter markers within one larger video, Vegas defaults to playing the entire video and then returning to the menu, regardless of what chapter you begin playing AT.

Just a note here: DVDA has a particular way to configure the NEXT button on the RC. I mean, the NEXT button will not follow the same sequence configured with DVDA's menus, but a sequence according to the files, as they were set to this authoring application instead, on the left main window, from top to bottom.
