I'm trying to find a simple program where I can drag and drop any video file (including a large .vob resulting from not splitting files) that will give me a file I can play on my lyra. I would even pay, for example super dvd ripper, but the trial version made a file with the audio out of sync. I've actually had better luck making mpg1 instead or .avi with mpeg4 encoding, wich the instructions say I have to use, but it never comes out quite right. I would like all video files to be left in their original aspect ratio and shown in letterbox format.
This is what I've tried,
3GP Converter - Didn't work
TMPGEnc - audio out of sync (it wouldn't alloy me to chaneg the
bitrate, maybe this is the problem?) and aspect ratio a little off
Super - Worked but only encoded the first few minutes before quiting!!
Pocket Divx - audio out of sync
Super DVD Ripper(trial) - audio out of sync
If anybody has had success with this player please also tell me the settimgs you use for any program you suggest.
PLEASE e-mail your responses to jmdatcs@aol.com Thanks

Where did your source file come from. Are you sure it isn't the problem. Before capturing or encoding, did you defrag your HD, and shut down all unneeded background tasks?

I have tried these programs with many different source files, video files I've downloaded and large .vob files from ripping dvd's without splitting files. All of which played fine on my computer. I've tried it on two different computers both with over 40 gigs of free space, defraged with nothing (including anti virus etc.) running.

I do all of my capturing, encoding, burning, with Adobe Premiere 6.5, and Vegas 4.0, using an ADS Pyro AV/Link. I have never had any problems. But, I'm using all semi-pro software/hardware. Do some reading at Videoguys.com. They are a professional Video site.

Hi,
Here's what I do with my 2780:
I rip to the computer using DVDfab then I use Lathe (not free but for $4 it's worth it!) to convert it for the 2780.
You can also use pocketDivXEncoder which is an older version of the Lathe program and by the same people.
Another method I have used with some success is to use DVDx to do all of the work. THis tends to be slower and the results are'nt quite as good, especially if your saving it as Divx but it is one stop shopping.
Have Fun!

PS. I found out the hard way that if the Lyra 2780 runs out of battery while playing a movie it can (and usualy will) corrupt some files on the unit. ''
