  1. After editing a film with Premier 6.5 if I have my DVD recorder connected I can export straight to dvd through firewire. This yeilds astonishing results without the need to export to 3hr dv tape first of all. Whilst operating this way it acts just like a dv camera/video recorder connected with firewire(although without dv device control). The problem that I am having is intermitantly the recorder(pioneer 320s) reports a loss of dv signal input and stops recording to disc. This results in a wasted disc and my returning to dv mastering, and running from tape to DVD. This problem does not happen when running dv tape from any of my sony dv camcorders or dv tape decks(vx2000/vx2100/dsr11/dhr1000). I have changed firewire cables, swapped 1394 ports, and banged my head off the wall whilst doing a highland fling all to no avail. Any suggestions or previous remidies discovered would be much appreciated.

For starters, use a DVD-RW and don't waste DVD-R's anymore.

  3. At £0.22 each the disc isnt really the problem. Its more to do with the time wasted mastering to 3hr digital tape, then to DVD when I know it is possible to go straight from premier to DVD recorder. The failure only happens about 50% of the time and usually between 45mins-1hr 30 mins of recording.
