So, I am new to this scene, DVD Burner freshly free from its package, FAVC installed, avi successfully converted to VOB files, audio and video, etc. I burned the DVD last night, and none of my DVD players can read it. I followed a tutorial on Digital Digest, like a good student, but Butkis... Now, I am fairly confident when I say, it's a "me" problem, user error, etc... but, let me run through what I did in order to get some educated advice.

I burned the .avi in PAL format because of the frame rate, when tested, was 22-25 fps. I assumed that was close enough to 25 to run with PAL, as opposed to NTSC. This is my first guess when asked, what went wrong.

I verified the disk, used "Best" quality, slowest burn rate, as good as it gets, right?

I am using a DVD+R discs, and the little label on my DVD player says Progressive DVD+R, RW, DVD-R, RW, etc. Frankly, I don’t know the difference between the two, even after reading about it on wikipedia.

Now, let say something about the files added. The folder name was the name of the movie. Therein was two files, Video and Audio. I added the single folder that housed the two. Should I have added both folders, one folder (Video), or what? The primary purpose of this venture is simply meant for watching videos on my home DVD Players. It doesn’t really help me if my computer can recognize it, and my DVD Player spit it out. This my second guess…

I call myself reading through the forums, looking for similar topics regarding my situation. Forgive me for rehashing an already answered topic.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

You should add the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder to the root of the DVD. What burning software did you use and what burn settings?

And identify the fps in the avi using gspot or mediainfo, if 24fps then use NTSC instead.

Unlikely your DVD players can play PAL if you're in the US. Try it again with NTSC settings.
