    New Sony RDR-GX210 does not recognize the Samsung camcorder when connected using a firewire cable. Both machines switched on. Message on TV screen 'DV device not connected'

    Sony userguide says input signal needs to be DVC-SD. Camcorder can not be of type MICRO-MV.

    The firewire/i-link connection only works with DV format it seems.
    That MICRO-MV records in MPEG-2.
    So you have to use the analog (s-video) connection then.
