Hey guys,
I know alot of ppl have had problems with his CIS but mine's been running strong since Dec 04. Tonite I had my first REAL problem.
The top piece of double sided black tape popped off tonite during printing. The printer got jammed. I immediately turned it off, fixed the problem and reprinted the dvd. After I reprinted the DVD, the printer now errors out and says it cannot recognize the magenta cartidge. It says to use Epson ink. Problem is, it won't print at all now. I've sent a mesasge to JLW sales but am not expecting an answer. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it? I've tried unplugging the printer, reseating the cartridge.....basically everything I could think of.
any ideas?
thanks in advance....

You may have to compromise and either buy a new auto-reset smartchip or use a chip from a spent mag. cart. You can look on pages 18-21 and try to find the link for waytoprint because the auto-reset chips (all 6) will run you about $21 or JLW may send you a replacement chip.
Is what we learn indeed a fact, or someones opinon? -
How do you replace the chip? I have some old spent cartridges (epson official ones). How do I replace them? thanks a lot.

I would be surprised if JLW didn't contact you. He is pretty good in the customer service department.
Heres what you should try.
Take all the carts out and then press the ink button again, as if there were some new carts put in.
Let the printer recognize that no carts are installed. Put your JLW carts back in and see if all is ok again. -
Alright, if that doesn't work, I am thinking about getting the refillable cartridges from Way To Print on eBay. Is this the way to go for refillables? I love my CIS but this is not the first time the tubes have gotten caught. I just hope it isnt the printer....thanks for your help. I will try that and post back tonite.

Replacing the chips with OEM chips will require a resetter. Your better off with your idea or new auto-reset chips....*CAUTION* the chips are very sensitive to static electricity....Handle them with care making sure not to touch the contacts with your bare hands as this may destroy them. If you cannot wait consider buying a mag. OEM cart and use the 5 others on your jlw cis with it.

I have been using jlwsales version 6 and have had all kinds of problems. It came with a cable so snuggly angled that it crimped. Before noticing the problem, I tried putting the ink containers at different levels and followed documentation and everything. Now it appears that one of the colors has leaked almost all the way out. JLW will respond sporatically and now wants to do a complete refund. Is this the best system or does something better exist?
In case he replaces it, does anyone have a picture of it installed correctly with height specs and cable running without bends in an Epson R320?car audio woes
