Does anyone know what the best CIS is for an Epson R260?

Because i thought some time back you could not get the good carts anymore cause epson or someone sued saying they were infringing on their copyright in the design of the carts for the CSI systems.....

It was related to epson making modifications to cartridge design to prevent the CIS installation

You might want to check out > http://inkjetrefillkit.net , left panel > cont. ink systems , under inkjet refills

Or even check out ebay for sellers of CIS products, thou be carefull, you get the bad with the good if not carefull

Guess you are talking about this

I do have an InkRepublic CIS, and it does a credible job with their inks installed. I've printed reams of paper, mostly photos for building and CD/DVD covers. It does do a decent job.

Many CIS or refill carts providers are affected by the Epson patent rulings about their cartridges. On the other hand, the material that the InkRepublic system is made from should resist pretty much any aquaeous inks, dye, pigment, sublimation and many mild solvent inks. Their "damper" design is about as close to the design that Epson has used in their large format printers, without infringing on Epson's patents.

The InkRepublic CIS is the closest thing that you can get to the way that Epson designs their large format printers without actually stepping on any patent issues, that is one reason why it works so well. So InkRepublic's CIS design should be immune from the action - it has separate spongeless dampers and chipsets which are great for future upgrade, like R200 and R1800 are sharing the same dampers, so you dont have to pay the whole system again in the future.

Jeff & James have their r260 cis reviews on inkrepublic site, it may be a good guide for you all.

whatever system you use, make sure you install an external waste ink tank like this:

I was shocked to see how much ink came out of the tubes when I turned back on the printer and it went through
a prime cycle. it is extraordinary! That's why many have transitioned to CIS.
