    Hi people,
I was having a bitta trouble with oooold eh chkdsk..
I would schedule it to run on windows start up.
It does but only for like 2 seconds and it doesn do stages 4 and 5 or it might do them but really quick.
Often i can sort problems out but not this bastard.
    This ones outa control!!
It seems to have partitioned my drive in 2 tho it being only one drive.
Its kinda urgent i run a check disk properly because i have many low performing system files and folders.
    Cheers.

  4. Pull out your windows Xp CD/Windows 2000 CD, boot off of it, then choose recovery console. select your windows, enter administyrator password (if any), then type chkdsk /? that'll give you the two switches you can use. One just checks the drive structure whether or not its flagged dirty, other one checks drive structure and surface tests drive.

Read the screen carefully as you don't want to reinstall repair the windows.

    Good Luck

P.S. this is what I had to do the last time the power flickered and froze the computer. That's how I found out the UPS had gone ten toes up. In my case I had to run it on every drive letter in the computer and the windows ran OK again.
