    Hi everyone.

I was reading this topic here:
--> check out my new videoclip_

..and found that it was .WMV file (windows media video) and I
can not play it on my setup.. WIN98x crashes out of win media plyr.

Is there any other software player (not huge app) that I can D/L on
dial-up and play them under my given os ??

These are the only files I can't seem to play these days, and for
some strange reason, I am finding more and more people using this
format to share their videos on the net.

    Thanks,
    -vhelp 3557

mplayer and VLC also support WMV playback, although I don't think that VLC supports all versions. WMV9/VC-1 is I believe supported though.

    @ celtic ..

    How do I D/L it ??
Do you have a direct D/L url link ??

I went to the site listed in the thread you posted, but all it
is giving me are a bunch of other D/L 's and not mplayer itself.

    Thanks,

Media Player Classic relies on the same dshow/DMO decoders that wmp does.

    I didn't post any thread.

mencoder is included which will make the download a larger. Other people release just mplayer compiles so you are welcome to grab theirs if you want to save on download time or just download the win32 compile from mplayerhq.

At least with Media Player Classic I could play WMV files with WIN98 while the standard mediaplayer always crashed with those files.
