I understand that there is a limitation in the hardware that prevents us from playing movies from the memory stick that will utilize the full 480 x 272 resolution of the PSP screen. However, is this a limitation of the firmware? Is it feasible to assume that someday Sony could allow this to happen, or is there something in the PSP that will prevent them from ever allowing us to do this?
It is frustrating to think we could possibly be watching videos at 480 x 272 off of our memory stick. The difference in quality is astounding!

The resolution limitation is a restriction that Sony has coded into the firmware. Removal of this limitation would most likely require a firmware hack or a firmware revision from Sony. As far as is known, the PSP should be capable of playing full resolution video from the Memory Stick but Sony will not let us.
