  1. Hello, I'm new here. I've been making videos of my PC gameplay for a while now, but have used music tracks exclusively for the audio until recently.

After Fraps' tech support telling me my out of sync audio was probably caused by my Realtek AC97 onboard sound not being compatible, I bought an Audigy 2 ZS.

My out of sync problems are still just as bad, though one time out of several tries, I was able to get a clip in sync, why, I don't know.

Some of the things I've tried are lowering the Fraps FPS setting to 30, lowering then defeating audio hardware acceleration, and using VDub to readjust the audio with the audio interleave function.

Game Cam claims their game recording program does not cause out of sync audio, but I'd like to see if I can get Fraps to work first, as you have to use smaller resoultion with Game Cam to get the same clarity, about 512x384, instead of 640x480.

The sound gets more out of sync as the clip progresses, the audio being early, so audio interleave doesn't really do much. Ideally I'd like to prevent the out of sync sound, rather than laboriously correct it afterward.

I still can't understand why one time it came out OK. I did install the Fraps program several times, both overwriting and uninstalling/reinstalling, perhaps I got a good install one of those times?

I've read about some programs that may be able to correct the sync problem by using them after the clip has been recorded with Fraps, but if I go that route, it will have to be something I can understand.

Even VirtualDub is hard for me to understand, and where do you download the 1.6.9 version? I downloaded 1.6.1, and it said it was repeased Aug 7 '05, so I thought it was the latest.

  4. Stop bumping, whats your system specs? what fps are you running while capping? are you capping while playing also? do you have the full version?.

I have the full version and never ran into any problems. Playing and capping at the same time is very cpu intensive, you have to have a very good cpu and gpu(s) to get a smooth video cap while playing. Ive always stuck with viewing game in free camera mode "not playing" and capturing with fraps.
    Quality is my policy.

Well at least the bumping got me an answer now didn't it, perhaps I should have said "please don't ignore me" in the first post, but why should that be necessary on a tech HELP forum?

System is plenty to capture with Fraps running AND play.

    P4 Northwood 3.0 Gig
    X800XT
    1 gig RAM
    74Gig Raptors (2)
    550 watt Antec
    etc, etc

My whole purpopse of using Fraps is to record gameplay, not the maps used in the game. Thus, it would appear this sentence, "Ive always stuck with viewing game in free camera mode "not playing" and capturing with Fraps." does not apply to my needs, but I thought I made that clear in my first post.

What's the deal with responses around here? Are those that get them subscibing to something I've not read about? Seems a bit off the collar to say what you did about the bumping. There are some threads still open that have already received hundreds of responses, a little lopsided don't you think?

What brilliantlly "tech" oriented advice that was, is perversion your specialty Johnny boy?

Someone like you ought not reveal your full name, but maybe revealing too much about yourself is indeed the problem.

Your avatar looks to be a sign of things to "come" for you.LOL

So far it's taken me almost two weeks and a couple of bumps just to get 2 responses from what appear to be an addict and a pervert, and I was told this was a good place for serious tech help, but maybe it's just a hangout for makers of underground porn videos.

Adios ********, I've got better things to occupy my time with.
