  1. I have a WMV-HD video that i would like to convert so i can watch it on my dvd player(s). However, the content is protected by Digital Rights Management (DMR).

Before anyone points fingers at me for piracy, I must say that the content I am referring to is a movie trailer made freely available for download from it's official website. So, converting it to another format, as I understand it, would not be pirated because it was available online for free.

Is there any way I can possibly remove the DMR restriction, or is there a program which could simply ignore this? I would like to convert it to MPEG-2...

    thanks?

Well, if it's freely available yet still has DRM, that just means you have rights to play it, but not to convert it to another format

    http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/drm2wmv.zip should do the trick.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. yes, but that is stupid. I can download the quicktime version and convert that but it looks horrible. low resolution (which apple calls high rez heh) and horrible compression. the wmv-hd version looks absolutely fantastic and would be great for converting to another format such as MPEG-2

Probably, but that is the choice of the content owner ...

Anyway ...... that's beside the point

  6. ehhhhhh i hate this DRM crap.

i guess i'll just download an alternate version with a lower resolution and horrible compression, same exact movie trailer, and convert it from that

*sigh* i hate it when they take their anti-piracy crap too far. making it impossible to convert something that's available online for free is just idiotic

What about posting a link to the clip, so others might have a crack at it and can possibly tell you how they did it when and if they get around it ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

here's a direct link to the movie trailer. it's wmv-hd and it's zipped. note that you need a relatively powerful computer to be able to play it.
