In the last weeks, is doesn't burn no-name media reliable (only 30% of all were good burns). Even on branded media (+R,-R and RW) is takes at least 30 min to burn (Nero burning 8 times on Fujifilm DVD-R, but neede 40 min to burn).

I think this slowness is due too many burning errors. Could temperature be a problem? (in the room I got around 25 degrees C)

25C isn't that warm; Maybe if it was 50C.

Is DMA enabled? If so, then maybe dust on the laser lens? Try blowing it out with some 'canned air'. If that helps, try a cleaning disc or if you can get in there, some denatured alcohol and a foam 'Q-tip'.

If your media is good and there is no problems with your burning software, then maybe the drive has a problem. Only real way to test it is in another computer to see if it has the same problems there. If so, then you might want to start shopping for a replacement.

I have had my 109 for about 4 months now and have never had any problems burning hundreds of dvd's.

All of a sudden it will not burn DVD's, works ok with CDR's and DVDRW's.

I have tried different media but still nothing.

Is it goosed? Should I take back to shop?

    Help is appreciated.

  4. if it really is only 4 months old, call pioneer (check the warranty card that came with the drive, it has the number to call). They will replace it up to one year from the date of purchase.

I have the A09xl drive and after 40 burns it just 100% died. Pioneer was nice to talk to, and I sent it in for a replacemnt/servicing. Took about 3 weeks to get it back, but so far so good (knock on wood)

As I needed the burner often, I decided to buy a Hitachi burner instead. This has DVD-RAM addinoinally and works like a charm. Today these burners come cheap (around 50$ here) and aren't worth the troube of getting a replacement (which will possible fail after another 4 month).
