Hi
I have WindowsXP with the latest SP, a Hollywood DV Bridge and Vegas 4. I have reinstalled everything for other reasons than my present problem. I had Vegas working beautifully for over 6 months when the Hollywood Bridge died on me. This forum said that it is unreliable and can quit if it gets to warm. I have now purchased another used H. Bridge and it is recognized by Windows. If I deinstall the bridge and reload it'll get installed and I can choose to use MovieMaker as the capture SW. I did this once and it worked. I then closed it and started Vegas Capture and it doesn't work. I deinstalled the bridge, reloaded and started Vegas Capture and it worked but with a lot of interference in the audio. I can see that I share this problem with a lot of other users but there is no definitive solution to the problem, or is there ? Would be most grateful for some help on this.

did you pick the right device for capturing in options ?
i never heard of many people ever using a HB card to capture with vegas ... it is not really a product on their approved list of capture products ..
in fact i dont recall seeing anyone on all the various sony vegas forums ever mention this or use this in at least a couple years .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Thanks for your quick reply. Since it had worked so well before I thought I should give it another chance. Just now I plugged in the 12V plug and started the capture program and the video preview came on directly. I stopped the VCR, rewound it a bit and tried again and - no. The same old "device ... could not be opened " appeared again and there is no point trying after this. In Options I have all defaults except for PAL. In Disc Management I point to a capture directory that exists. I far as I know I have the same settings as before when it all worked. I did consider buying a Canopus ADVC-100 and perhaps I should have.

i meant the option of which device to capture with -- there may be more than one thing listed even if you only have the one card ..

The only two devices I have under 'Video' is the ASUS TV7134' and 'Microsoft DV Camera and VCR'.
