  1. I am trying desperately to find a solution to eliminate the bullsh*t limitations TiVo has placed on .TIVO files so that I may archive my recorded programs to DVD. Is there any way to do this on a Mac? I understand this app is for stripped MPEG2 - but how does one even get it THAT far?

    Please help..

  2. Technically it is not an impossible problem, but legally it is, because tivo added a DRM scheme to their format. For now your only resort is to ask TiVo themselves to add Mac support.

The CEO has all but said there will never be Mac Support. I realize there's legal quandaries about posting information here. Can anyone PM me perhaps? It's a little disconcerting to think they don't even make the equivalent of Sonic for OSX. Thanks for any insight.

  4. Right now there is no way to use a .tivo file on a mac, you have to strip it of the DRM on a PC and take that outputted MPEG2 to a mac to do what you wish. Its the unforunate truth

Great, but how? The evillabs.net link is dead.
Can anyone please assist, PM or otherwise?
    Thanks -

You need "Direct Show Dump Utility" on the PC to strip it down to a .mpg file.

I have successfully transferred a show that I want to archive to DVD. My problem is that I can't get the .mpg file into anything that I can edit it. Seems my Tivo takes the the first few minutes and puts them on the end of the program.

How can I edit the stream before putting it to DVD?
