    I am new to the whole dvr thing. I was just wondering, is it possible to record a show then transfer it to my computer to save? Or is it better to record with the dvr then have a stand alone dvd recorder and do it to dvd then transfer it to my computer?

    i experimented with one of these once..

    i was able to explore the hdd with exploere2fs, some linux file browser.. and then i used pvastrumento, and it made the files and mpeg.. 512x384 i think.. it was okay, but very slow & a huge hassle.
