Also your better off using virtualdubmpeg2 to load the mpeg for conversion
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Is there a reason not to do this in Dr. Divx - seems easy enough...?

Yeah but virtualdubmpeg2 is free assuming you already have divx or xvid installed (which are also free - at least divx5 is and xvid is as well)

I actually have Dr. Divx, but wouldn't mind messing around with other methods. Would the quality be better if I used vdub mpeg2?

    MPG to XviD

I like AutoGK for this also
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks folks!! Lots 'o choices here. Good stuff - and actually, had I done a better job of searching, I should have found those guides myself - so thanks for taking the time!!

Must be pretty late down under...I do business with folks over there, and usually speak with them at the end of our day here in L.A. when it's the morning in Aus.

One more question - a little off topic. Do stand alone DVD player that play Divx files usually support xvid as well?
