  1. Hi
    I am making a dvd
    and I would like to put an image in the background of a dvd menu
    I would like to know what image file format and image size i should use
    to have the best compatibility with the standard ?

    images on dvds are converted to mpeg by the authoring program .. so use whatever you want for type that your authoring program and/or menu making program can use ..

    as for the size i probably should use the same as the video 352x480 ?

    The authoring program will resize it for you. Best to give it a larger image >1Kx1K so it can downsize. If you give it 352x480 it must upsize to 720x480 which is bad for a still.
