    i am at a loss. i have an RCY LYRA, and the only way to play an mpeg video is to make sure the audio is also encoded to MP3---how does one do that???

    It apparently uses a Mpeg-4 codec. MP3 audio is common with that, so that part is easy. I would imagine the codec is Divx.

    You can use a program like FairUse Wizard or AutoGK to convert DVDs, mostly they are all-in-one programs and easy to use. A DVD can be crunched down to ~700MB, or smaller, depending on the resolution.

    Virtualdub can also be used for Divx encoding for individual files, if you have the Divx codec installed. The Lyra is apparently 320X240 resolution, so take that into account when encoding.

    Look in 'Convert' to the left for Divx conversions.

    If avi, then as above.
    If mp4, then you can mux with mp4box.
