    for example i have a video file, 20mins
    i want to split it into 10sec pieces each
    didn't find such option in virtualdub
    any recommendations what to use?

    virtualdubmod can definitely do it:



    If PAL, make it 250 frames. If NTSC 29.976fps, make it 300 frames. If NTSC 23.976fps, make it 240 frames. Basically just make it 10x your frame rate.
