Not a bad unit if you want to use it ONLY for off-air tv show recordings from a clean signal, and use either 2-hour or 3-hour modes ONLY.

Not good for VHS to DVD transfer work.
    Not good at 4 hours.
Not good if your cable or antenna signal is noisy.

Not as clean as JVC or LiteOn (LSI chips).
But not as dirty as Philips (Philips chips) or Panasonic (Panasonic chips).

    Comparable to Sanyo.
I believe it uses ESS chips, but hard to tell (heatsink in the way).

On the Web it only shows up as 149.99. They show it's available online only. Did you find them at the stores? Thanks

I bought it in the local store, yes. They had just under a dozen of them.

Seems like this may have been a deal only available locally at the Circuit City store where lordsmurf visited. I went to my local Circuit City and they had none, although they did have a Cyberhome CH-DVR1600 DVD recorder for $99.99 on the shelf. This DVD recorder is also available online at this price, as well as a Samsung DVD-R120 for $159.99 and a Lite-On LV-W5001 for $149.99.
The Centrios EDW8020is still $149.99 on line.

Went by the 3 near me today. They had none either. I had the last store manager call to see if he could find me one. He said he will call me if he finds one.

They were on sale at all the stores around me (about 6 locations). My local store did not have any, so I had to drive 20 minutes to the other nearby store, and they had just under a dozen of them. I did not see this week's Sunday paper, but when I was in the store, it said "advertised special $79.99" like it usually does for stuff that was in the circulars.

This unit has a Samsung tuner, and it does a decent job. Also modulates output on the coax output! So I can bypass my VCR and other equipment completely, just need this unit and a tv, and you're all set.

I guess it goes off sale today. Again, for recording OFF TV ONLY in 2-3 hour mode, not a bad deal for $80 plus tax. Thought I'd give it one last bump.
