  1. Hi everyone,
I capture at 25fps, 352x288, using huffyuv and then I convert to VCD. But when viewing it on my DVD palyer the quality is terrible compare with the VHS source. I can't increase frame rate because of drop frames and I can't capture at full resolution. Is there any way I can increase the quality??

    Thanx in advance

  2. If your capturing PAL, increasing framerate wouldn't help anyway, because PAL is 25 fps. To increase quality, you could try loading the captured AVI file into Virtual Dub and using some filters on it (temporal smoother works well to get rid of noise) before you compress it. If it doesn't look bad til after you convert it to VCD, you could try making an SVCD.

Also, if your getting lots of dropped frames, you should make sure DMA is enabled on your hard drive and close any other programs before capturing.

  3. Thanks,

I going to give the filters a try, currently the quality is blurry compared to the orignal VHS tape that I captured off.

If you really can not capture a higher resolution than 352x288, you have to play around with the Vdub filters.
Always try to capture at highest res that is possible.Have you tried 640x480?
Making SVCD might be useless, because the source(the captured avi) isn't that good.
